'HARLEM SHAKE' SAVED MAD DECENT LABEL FROM FOLDING

Speaking to the Huffington Post at Coachella, Diplo says: "Honestly, that record was the thing that saved the label, because a year ago we were going to fold because we couldn't figure out how to make money."

Somewhat paradoxically, it was giving away their music for free saved them Diplo explains: "We just started giving music out for free and it worked out."

Although the track brought sample licensing obstacles, Mad Decent manged to cut deals with those involved ensure that the record brought financial success to both Baauer and the label: "We didn't know there were any samples in the song to begin with," Diplo says.
